Since 1974, when Ladakh first became accessible to foreign visitors, this high and arid region has captured the imagination of adventure travelers. This itinerary between Ladakh and Zanskar offers a large diversity of landscapes, from the jagged Kongmaru La pass (5000m) to the green oasis of the Markha valley with breath-taking views of the Korakoram snow-capped peaks. Many scattered high villages, each with irrigated fields of barley and potatoes, add color to this otherwise quite barren environment, and provide the chance to meet the Ladakhi peasants in the simplicity of their daily life. Markha will be an opportunity to visit the old monastery, famous for its paintings. Trekkers will traverse two towering pass at altitudes equipped 17,400′. Tracks breeze past willow wildlife orchards, together with territories of natural wild mounts and during neutral valleys decorated with colorful prayer flags rising and falling in the puff of air during Markha Valley trek.   • Day 01:Arrival Delhi
  • Day 02:Arriva Kathgodam & Drive To Loharkhet
  • Day 03:Loharkhet – Kharkiya ( 5 HRS BY JEEP ) & TREK TO KHATI (5 kms, 2 hrs)
  • Day 04:Khati – Dwali (2575 M/8498 FT)
  • Day 05:Dwali – Phurkta (14300 FT) TO PINDARI CAMP SITE 3660 MTS (12,000 feet).
  • Day 06:PINDARI GLACIER CAMP – DWALI
  • Day 07:Bagubassa – Roopkund (4450 mts/14600 ft) – Bedni Bugyal (7-8 hrs)
  • Day 08:Bedni Bugyal – Wan (10 km/ 3-4 hrs) – Rudraprayag
  • Day 09:Rudraprayag – Haridwar – Delhi
  • Day 10:Delhi – Departure

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01:Arrive – DelhiOn arrival meet and assist at the Airport with our local representative and facilitate you check in at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 02:Delhi – LehWe leave Delhi as early as 5 am to join our morning flight to Rinpoche airport Leh, which rarely delayed. After an hour long spectacular flight over the Himalayas, we land in the past; Tashi Namgyal’s 15th century capital, Leh. As we drive to our hotel the cold air will certainly catch your throat, and you will definitely feel the altitude. After a late breakfast, we will roam around Leh , a little piece of central Asian history, with its palace dominating the old bazaar and a backdrop of snowy peaks.
  • Day 03:LehAfter breakfast visit Shey Palace, Thiksey, Hemis monasteries and stok Palace Museum. In the evening return to Leh. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 04:Leh – Chilling – Skiu(3500 meters in 5 hours approx)In the morning after breakfast drive to chilling . Arrive Chilling and start trek and cross the Zanksar river with a trolly bridge turn wise to join the waiting team on the other side of the river. OVernight at Camps.
  • Day 05:Skiu – Markha((3850 meters in 7 hours approx)The trail joins the Marka stream and will follow it for a few days. The day’s trek is relatively easy, but it involves crisscrossing the steam at numerous pints depending on the water level. Markha has a monastery and a fort for a local cultural sightseeing. Overnight at Camps.
  • Day 06:Markha – Hankar(4000 meters in 4 hours approx)Many monasteries are spread along our route today. After the Umlung monastery,The valley narrow and we stopt o camp at the foot of Kang Yaste(6400 meters). Overnight at Camps.
  • Day 07:Hankar – Nimaling(4650 Meters in 4 hours approx)Trek in the valley in direction of Zalung karpo and Rupshu. We pass through Thagshugtse pasture and start our gardual ascent towards the wonderful high valleys of Ladakh. Overnight at Camps.
  • Day 08:Nimaling – Kongmaru La(5150 meters)-Chogdo(4000 meters) 7 hours approxClimb up to the summer patures of Nimaling, used by the shpeherds of Hankar and Markha, then follow the hudge to the top. the Kongamaru La pass commands a beautiful view of the Kang Yatze north face(6400 meters) the Ladakh ranges and the Indus valley. Overnight at Camps.
  • Day 09:Chogdo-Gynuncho La(4600 meters) 6 to 7 hours approxFrom now on, we will follow a new and rarely travelled route through the valleys to the east of our objective,Today we turn towards the west into a tributary valley that leads after a long and gardual ascent to the Gyuncho La. We descent a few meters bellow to establish our campsite. Overnight at Camps.
  • Day 10:Gyuncho La- Shang La(4800 meters)-Matho Phu(4350 meters) 6 hours approxToday, we will cross many sprus and minor passed with occasional views northwards towards the Indus valley and peaks beyond.We climb up to the Shang La and then descend to the Tokpo River. Afterwards we will trek downhill to a nice camping place. Overnight at Camps.
  • Day 11:Summit Day( 8 to 9 hours approx)Our route initially crosses scree and boulder slopes, and then leads to easy angled snow slopes, which requrie ice axe and crampons. The route is not difficult but at this altitude, it will be strenuos. From the summit of stok Kangri(6116 meters), we should see as far as the the Karakoram, the Pamirs and Tibet.If it’s warm enough we will rest and recvoer some enery on top before descending to our camps. Overnight at camps.
  • Day 12:Stok Kangri Base – Leh (5 hours walk to stok)All downhill and through wild groge scenery. There should be time to visit stok Palace and museum while we wait for our jeeps. Then an hour drive across the Indus valley to comforts of the hotel in Leh.
  • Day 13:Leh – DepartureIn the morning after breakfast check out from the hotel and transfer towards airport to catch the flight for onwards destination.
