How to Reach Chandrashila Trek

By Road: Government operated buses, Private buses and taxis are easily available from Haridwar to Chopta. It is around 200 kilometer that can be covered in less than eight hours.
By Rail: Haridwar is the nearest railway station which well connected and receives trains from all major Indian cities. Local Taxi and buses are available from Haridwar to Sari Village – the base camp for Chandrashila Trek.
By Air: Jolly Grant airport located in Dehradun is the nearest airport to Chopta. It takes around 6.5 hours to cover the 211 kilometer surface distance from the airport to Sari village near Chopta.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01:Arrive- DelhiIn the morning after breakfast check out from the hotel, and drive towards Haridwar, Upon arrival at Haridwar, check in at the hotel. In the evening we will go to Har-ki-pouri for worship at Ganges Ghats. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 02:Delhi – HaridwarIn the morning after breakfast check out from the hotel, and drive towards Haridwar, Upon arrival at Haridwar, check in at the hotel. In the evening we will go to Har-ki-pouri for worship at Ganges Ghats. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 03:Haridwar – Ukhimath (200 kms/7-8 hrs)In the morning after breakfast check out from the hotel, and drive towards Ukhimath Ukhimath via Rishikesh, Devprayag (Confluence of Alaknanda & Bhagirathi, from Devprayag the Holy river Ganges started), Rudraprayag (Confluence of Alaknanda & Mandakini River). Breakfast and lunch enroute. Arrival at Ukhimath by evening. Check into the guest house/camps. In the night have your dinner. Overnight at camps.
  • Day 04:Ukhimath – Deoriatal (2438 meters/7998 ft)In the morning you can see snow clapped Himalayan ranges. After breakfast start your trek to Deoriatal through dense forest of Rhodendron and lots of wild flowers and ferns. The trek will take 3- 4 hrs to reach Deoriatal. Upon arrival at Deoriatal set out the campss for overnight stay.
  • Day 05:Deoriatal – Sari – ChoptaIn the morning trek down to Sari village (3 kms) and from here drive to Chopta through dense forest and meadows. Its 30 kms drive from Sari Village. Upon arrival at Chopta set out your tents for overnight stay. In the evening explore the magnificent view of the Himalayas.
  • Day 06:Chopta – Tungnath (3680 meters /12070 ft) – Chandrasila (4090 meters/13415 ft) – ChoptaAfter an early breakfast trek to Tungnath with packed lunch. Tungnath is situated at the height of 3680 mts from the sea level the highest in India. The trek is three kms upward. Enroute you will find lush green meadows and you can see the entire range of snow clapped Himalayas. Upon arrival at Tungnath Temple and visit the temple. After relax one further one kms trek to Chandrasila peak. Later trek back to Chopta for dinner and overnight stay at camps.
  • Day 07:Chopta – Rishikeshin the morning after breakfast check out from the hotel, and drive towards Rishikesh, Upon arrival at Rishikesh check in at the hotel. In the evening visit Laxman Jhoola and Ashram of Rishikesh. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 08:Rishikesh -Delhi – DepartureIn the morning after breakfast check out from the hotel, and drive towards Delhi, Upon arrival at Delhi, transfer to IGI airport to catch the flight for onward destination.
